Due to the huge growth in numbers of available slides, we have added new
categories to make both selling & buying easier. In order for your slide to receive
best exposure, and appear properly in search functions, please observe these general
suggestions!
SlideTrader.com's slide auction venue is divided into several specific, and
general categories. It is important that your slide be placed into the appropriate
category.
The use of the following categories is restricted to the "category
owner" or their designates:
A&M SLides, Britannia Rail Slides, Clint Groves, and Peter Jobe Slides
If you wish to have your own category, please contact us for further details.
All other general categories are for the use of all other sellers.
The selling page is very straightforward, and provides concise step by
step instructions on how to complete the form, and upload your image. In order to optimize
the efficiency of the database in general, and the various search functions, your
assistance is observing the following is requested:
Remember that many users rely on search functions to locate items they
are interested in. As such, include as much descriptive information of the slide as you can
in the title box.
Most auctions will be English (Normal) Auctions. If you are unsure of the various auction types, please click here for detailed
descriptions. Remember, if you are preparing a "Dutch Auction" you will need to
indicate the quantity of slides as well!
This refers to your location (or the location from
which the slide will be posted from). It does not mean the location & country where
the slide was taken.
You may, if so desired, use the "BuyNow" feature for any of
your regular auction slides. In the upload form's "BuyNow" box, simply enter
the price which you are willing to sell the slide for. If someone wishes to buy the slide
at your fixed price, all bidding will cease, and the slide will be sold to that buyer.
An example:
1. Minimum bid set at $2.00, BuyNow
set at $15.00
Any person can bid on the slide as normal, and the bid price will
increase in the normal manner until auction closing. If someone completes the
"BuyNow" during that time, the bidding will cease, and the slide will go to
that bidder, at your established "BuyNow" price.
Dynamic Bid Time can be set by the seller when posting his or her
auction. Dynamic Bidding allows for bidding to continue beyond the normal end of
the auction if certain events occur.
The Dynamic Bid check box must be enabled by the seller if so desired.
If the check box is not enabled, Dynamic bidding will not be in effect.
The Dynamic Bid check box is set at a default level of "2"
minutes. If enabled, that means that at "2" minutes prior to the auction
closing, the system watches specifically for last minute bidding activity. If activity is
detected, the auction will lengthen by an equivalent amount. This would continue in 2
minute increments until bidding activity ceases (i.e. one person drops out).
The dynamic bid increment will be selected by the seller, only
the default time is set at two minutes.
Sometimes, especially in some of the larger categories, you may want
your auction item to stand out from the crowd. By selecting the "feature this
item in it's category" check box, your auction will appear at the top of the page, in
a separate "Featured Auctions" section. There is a $1.00 per item charge to use
this service.
Not every slide will be successfully bid on. In some cases maybe the
bidding never reached your reserve level, or perhaps there wasn't enough interest in the
subject.
Just because your slide didn't sell, don't despair. It's probably not a
slight against your photography skills, or your slide collection! Our auto relist function
will return the slides to auction again, for up to 3 times. It's not unusual
that a slide with little activity during one auction, can be a hub of activity on another.
All it takes is a couple of people who want the slide!
